Recently, James Gunn, the co-CEO of DC studios, took to Twitter surprising many of his skeptical yet hopeful fans by announcing the future roadmap of the next 8 to 10 years of DC projects. Under his new leadership, DC aims to overcome the “disconnection between DC movies, TV shows, games, and animation” by going forward with the same new continuity (i.e. DCU) across all media. While other projects like Matt Reeves’ Batman and Todd Philips’ Joker will remain in their separate continuity.

Here are all the confirmed DC slate announcements.

Creature Commandos (TV animation)

Creature Commandos will be a part of the first chapter of the new slate titled ‘Gods and Monsters’. Gunn himself writes all episodes of the series. The show’s characters will move in and out of animation and be voiced and played (in live-action) by the same actors.

Waller (TV live-action)

This is the story of Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis) who previously appeared in The Suicide Squad (2021) and HBO Max’s Peacemaker (2022). Created by Crystal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver (Doom Patrol), this show will see Waller team up with members of team Peacemaker.

Superman: Legacy (film)

“The true beginning of the DCU”, Superman: Legacy is currently being written by James Gunn, and is set to release in theaters on July 11, 2025. It will not be an origin story reportedly and will focus on Kal-el balancing his Kryptonian and human heritage.

Lanterns (TV live-action)

This is the story of a couple of Green Lanterns – John Stewart and Hal Jordan with some other unannounced Lanterns in the mix. Supposedly a thriller in the style of True Detective, the HBO Max show will follow Green Lantern cops who surveil Earth and uncover a terrifying mystery that ties into the DCU’s largest story.

The Authority (film)

Based on the Wildstorm characters, the Authority is a group of superheroes who believe the world is broken and they want to fix it by any means necessary.

Paradise Lost (TV live-action)

The show tells the story of Paradise Island, the birthplace of Wonder Woman, and will be reminiscent of Westeros from Game of Thrones in style.

The Brave and The Bold (film)

The film will follow the story of Batman and his actual son Damian Wayne and will be the DCU’s introduction of Batman. Based on Grant Morrison’s works, The Brave and The Bold will see Batman train a young Robin, raising him as a young assassin. The movie will serve as the beginning of the Bat-family saga in the DCU.

Booster Gold (TV live-action)

This HBO Max series will revolve around Booster Gold, a wannabe hero from the future who uses futuristic technology to come back to the present day and impress people with that tech and live out his impostor syndrome superhero fantasy.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (film)

A big sci-fi epic, the movie follows Supergirl who, unlike Superman, grows up on Krypton and watches all her loved ones die making her a more hardened superhero.

Swamp Thing (film)

This is a “very dark horror story” about the origins of the monster, the Swamp Thing. While being set outside the DCU, Swamp Thing will still somehow have some loose connections to it.

In the past few months, many DC fans have been pretty vocal about their feelings regarding the recent shakeups at DC, some have even questioned the decisions DC has taken under Gunn’s leadership. But this latest DCU slate should serve to provide some relief to their concerns. Whether a fan or not, all can agree that James Gunn is quite passionate about these projects and is dedicated enough to give them due thought and care.
